Kofta Balls with Cheese. Mouthwatering balls of ground beef stuffed with creamy cheese and cooked in a heavy and spicy tomato-based sauce. Doesn't the thought of that beautiful dish make your knees weak? Uncle Moes is one of those restaurants that you just pass by and ignore until you finally decide to give it a try, only to be completely smitte. I guess I never really noticed the place before because its facade is quite dark, with red and black design features that almost make it look gloomy and sad. My friends and I were looking for a place to eat along Malingap one night and we decided on Uncle Moes because there was a free parking spot, and knowing how hard it is to get parking in Malingap on busy Friday night, we pounced and grabbed that spot in a hot minute. I tried the kofta balls with cheese, and I didn't even share it with my friends. it was just so creamy and good, especially when eaten with their buttered rice. The meatballs are so rich, and it is complemented by the tangy, almost acidic tomato sauce. They topped it with more cheese, making it such a savory and mouthwatering dish that I still crave, even when I have long shifted to a vegetarian diet.

My Dad has a certain mood when he craves for the distinct taste and composition of Uncle Moe's Shawarma. Their beef is a bit more dry compared to the one we have been used to (and therefore a bit tired of) and their pita bread a bit thicker. Overall, the taste is really just different, even when it comes to the garlic sauce and the chili sauce. I however, prefer to munch on pita bread and hummus, or when I'm really in for a meal, I order their kofta balls. I seriously think their kofta balls should be available to be sold frozen so I can bring it home. The kofta balls are serves piping hot, and with the cheese filling, the meatball is likewise kept hot. Even the sauce itself is yummy enough to have with the pita as dipping sauce. Their kofta balls are one of the things that I like so much I wish I could make it at home.

Good food that doesn't break your budget. That's exactly what Uncle Moe's Shawarma Hub offers! If you're on a budget and craving for Mediterranean cuisine, you should definitely give this place a visit. Don't expect this place to be fancy though, but never mind that, you'll be blown away by how simple but awesome their food is. When I introduced this to my boyfriend who is the pickiest eater ever, he liked it so much that we ate here twice that week! For appetizers, we had the pita bread served with hummus. So simple but so, so good! For our main dishes, we got the Kofta Balls (with a side of pita bread, of course!) and Al got their classic Beef Kebab served with buttered rice. The Kofta Balls were seasoned to perfection and doused in a generous amount of tomato sauce without overpowering it and topped in melted cheese, perfectly paired with the pita bread! So delish! Al also enjoyed his order, too! And their homemade garlic sauce really complimented everything we ordered. Overall our bill was around Php 400, not bad for two people sharing!

Every time I enter into Uncle Moe's, I always have that feeling that I'm going to be satisfied. Shawarma is one of our favorites, a definite comfort food for me. But what is a tad bit higher in my eyes are Kofta Balls. Lucky for me, Uncle Moe's serves both and they serve it on a budget-friendly price! Uncle Moe's Shawarma is always served just right. The shredded beef gives off all the Middle Eastern heat that I love so much. The meat is tender and juicy, never overcooked. Don't be shy with putting their cream and garlic sauces into your Shawarma, they give it even more flavor! The Kofta Balls are also a real treat. They make mean Kofta Balls and I just love it. The beef texture is just right, well-seasoned, and the cheese just oozes in the middle. The tomato sauce has just the right adicity that doesn't overwhelm the dish. Uncle Moe's has made such a great name for itself being a reliable source of well-loved Middle Eastern dishes and rightfully so.

On a hunt for a decent place for a monthsary date on a tight budget, my boyfriend and I sought out Uncle Moe's. Shawarma has always been my go-to food in my university when I got too tired of the usual cafeteria food, and Uncle Moe's gave me a dish unlike any I've taste before. The Chicken Shawarma rice bowl I ordered had fresh and juicy chicken strips, and the heaping pile of raw white onions was the icing to my cake! (Don't judge me, I love onions). Of course, to those who aren't as avid a fan as I am of vegetables, you can opt to have an all meat shawarma dish. Here's a secret, though. When they say buttered rice, they mean a cup of rice with a slice of butter on top. No, really, it's hilarious.

Uncle Moe's is one of my go-to places for some solid Persian eats. When my family discovered this branch was nearby, we went out here for dinner right away. For starters, we get the black olive tapenade, a smooth and salty relish-like dip with pita bread on the side to share. I've tried the moussaka melt (like lasagna but with layers of al dente eggplant instead) and the cheesy kofta balls swimming in a generous pool of chunky tomato sauce, but my usual is still their beef shawarma - each hearty bite with a squeeze of cool garlic yogurt. (They also have one with chili if you're looking for a spicier kick.) But who knows, maybe I'll change it up with kebabs, chicken curry, or even ox brain if I'm feeling extra adventurous (and hungry) the next time I drop by. I don't know who Moe is, but if he cooks food as great as this, I wouldn't think twice to wish he were my uncle too.
